The good news is that there was no damage other than salt water inundation to the Waitabu Marine Park Office and visitor centre.
The village is rebuilding, and we have sent our first relief shipment over.
4 small houses have been built with the roofing iron provided by an early supporter via the Loloma Foundation, so that families have been able to move out of the church and back into their own space.
These are small, and dark, and eventually will be replaced, but have given the families back their independence, and they are very happy to have them.
Donations to the Loloma Foundation are making it possible for food supplies to be provided from that fund, thanks enormously to the untiring efforts of Julie Kelly at Nakia Resort, so we have concentrated our first shipment on emergency roofing materials, seeds, and vitamin supplements for the community to keep them healthy while they have limited access to fruit and vegetables.
