This is always a very special week where by the community take part in doing a reef survey with the help of Helen Sykes in our permanent Tabu area and our temporary Tabu area (Tabu Tara).
Today it has begun with the counting of giant clams, sea cucumbers and sea urchins in the Tabu Tara.
We had 8 teams of two that worked hard together snorkelling over the reef to gather the numbers of invertebrates.
Once we had gathered all the information from the survey we sat down in the afternoon to record all our findings.
The way we do this is by collecting all the morning data and transferring it to graphs.
Our work is done for today – tomorrow we will be doing the same surveys in the permanent Tabu area and we are looking forward to a very favourable out come.
